Chef Fathimath Umar

Chef Fathimath Umar has over 24 years of experience in academic and industry sectors of culinary arts and tourism in the Maldives and Europe.

She holds a Higher Diploma in European Culinary Arts, BSc (Hons) in Culinary Arts, and MSc in Hotel and Tourism Management. Chef Fathimath Umar was the Maldives’ first female Executive Chef, and has worked in various fine-dining establishments in the UK and Switzerland. Currently, she is a Senior Lecturer at the Maldives National University’s Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies.

She is a WorldChefs-certified Continental Judge (Culinary Arts & Hot Cooking, and Pastry Arts), and a recipient of the National Award of Recognition (People Development in Culinary Arts) by the Government of Maldives in 2024.
